Pierce- the American College of Greece- is looking for collaboration with other schools across Europe. The program should involve students between the ages of 12 – 15.
Pierce- the American College of Greece is a high school located in Athens-Greece.The Pierce mission is to provide a holistic education, to form intellectually independent, morally responsible and socially engaged global citizens. "Non ministrari sed ministrare" ("Not to be served but to serve") defines our institutional character and our aspiration for students.
The roots of our institution, Pierce – The American College of Greece, go back to 1875 in Smyrna. After the national destruction of 1922, PIERCE moved to Athens. In the past, the American College of Greece was honored by the Greek Academy for its contribution to the education of Greek youth.
Today, approximately 1380 students (between the ages of 12-18) follow the official curriculum as set by the Greek Ministry of Education. Moreover, they participate in more than 50 clubs of a huge range of interests as well as take part in numerous national and international programs.
We are strongly interested in collaborating, starting from September 2016, on the following topics:
- History (e.g. Images from Homer's Odyssey)
- Music (e.g. comparing different music styles or genres, looking at similarities and differences between the two countries).
- Architecture and arts
- Traditional folk art and creation
- Mythology (e.g. Greek Gods and Greek mythology)
The programs should involve students between the ages of 12 – 15. We are interested in communicating and working together via the World Wide Web and organizing exchange visits if possible to each other’s schools in order to present our work.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
